We source local Northern California milk & cream; our Organic producers follow American Humane Association practices. Our products are free from synthetic hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, gums, stabilizers, and rennet and are all certified Kosher.

SNCC is owned by long-time friends Ben & John. Ben is a 3rd generation creamery worker who grew up in his father's Sacramento fluid milk & ice cream plant, often riding the milk routes. Ben traveled to Denmark to pursue his interest in Old World cheese-making and completed an internship in the plant where his grandfather had been a foreman. He completed his formal studies in Canada and later joined with John, who has extensive creamery experience such as plant foreman for Brown Cow yogurts. They continue to work as hands-on owner operators today, over 10 years later.

Sierra Nevada Cheese Company's practices are extremely rare in today's world. For example, we are best known for our award-winning cream cheese. Unlike commercial cream cheese, which is produced in about 3 hours in mega-batches filled with gums, stabilizers, non-fat milk solids and many other "ingredients", SNCC handcrafts micro-batches using pure milk & cream, which we cure overnight with live active cultures to produce authentic flavor. When the curds form, they are drained, salted, and hand packed into cotton muslin bags where our staff hand rotates them for several days to create an incredibly light, fluffy texture. This process is indicative of the artisan practices used in all of our cheeses & fine dairy foods.

SNCC has proudly launched Capretta Goat Yogurts, which are a marketplace innovation as the first strained "Greek-style" goat milk yogurts. Capretta is also the only brand to offer reduced fat goat yogurt, as well as a whole milk version. Capretta Goat Yogurts contain just pure cultured goat milk, free from the stabilizers, starches, and fillers found in other brands. Capretta Goat Yogurts feature high calcium, increased protein, and millions of probiotics, as well as the digestibility of goat milk.
